Tarikh i Kashmir by Hargopal Kaul Khastah: This is the oldest and most comprehensive version of Tarikh i Kashmir, written in Urdu by Hargopal Kaul Khastah, a Kashmiri Brahmin scholar and poet, in 1877. It is based on various sources, such as Sanskrit texts, Persian chronicles, local legends, oral traditions, and personal observations. It consists of 52 chapters, covering the history of Kashmir from the mythical origin of the valley to the reign of Maharaja Ranbir Singh (1857-1885). Tarikh i Kashmir by Narayan Kul Ajiz: This is a shorter and later version of Tarikh i Kashmir, written in Persian by Narayan Kul Ajiz, another Kashmiri Brahmin scholar and poet, in 1710. It is based on the earlier work of Khastah, but with some additions and modifications. It covers the history of Kashmir from the time of King Lalitaditya (8th century) to the reign of Bahadur Shah (1707-1712). It also contains some poetic verses and anecdotes. Tarikh i Kashmir by Muhammad Azam Dedmari: This is a third and incomplete version of Tarikh i Kashmir, written in Persian by Muhammad Azam Dedmari, a Muslim historian and courtier, in 1747. It is based on both Khastah's and Ajiz's works, but with a more Islamic perspective. It covers the history of Kashmir from the time of King Jayapida (8th century) to the reign of Muhammad Shah (1719-1748). It also contains some genealogical tables and geographical descriptions.
